IMPACT STARTUPS
This network mobilizes investments to stimulate economic growth, strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and foster sustainable regional development.
APEP
In November 2023, President of the Republic Luis Lacalle Pou participated in the First Leaders’ Summit of the Alliance for Economic Prosperity of the Americas (APEP), convened and led by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, which was also attended by the Presidents of Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Peru, the Prime Ministers of Barbados and Canada, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and Panama.
During the Summit, which took place in Washington DC, APEP members announced the plan to boost inclusive growth and strengthen the region’s supply chains, which includes -among other initiatives and actions- the creation of an accelerator program to support and boost investment in emerging entrepreneurs, under the leadership of the governments of the United States, Canada and Uruguay.
The objective is to benefit hundreds of startups and mobilize additional capital to promote economic development in the region. This initiative reflects Uruguay’s positioning as a driver of innovation and entrepreneurship at the regional level.
APEP seeks to strengthen regional competitiveness and mobilize investment in the region. At the launch of APEP in 2023, Uruguay committed to support the implementation of a regional accelerator program in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and lead the creation of a network of venture capital investors. Through this Regional Accelerator and Investor Network, the program will bring together promising entrepreneurs from the region, provide training, seed capital, and facilitate connections with private sector investors.

What is the Investor Network?
The Americas Partnership Investor Network is a key initiative under the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (Americas Partnership). It aims to bridge funding and gender gaps by connecting Latin American and Caribbean founders with strategic investors. This network will mobilize investments to stimulate economic growth, strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and foster sustainable regional development.
Launched at the White House on July 17, 2024, with an initial anchor investment pledge exceeding $1 billion, the Americas Partnership Investor Network was established to advance Americas Partnership’s goals of promoting economic competitiveness and integration across the region. Uruguay, as a co-leader, is executing this initiative through its Uruguay Innovation Hub (UIH) program, in collaboration with IDB Lab and with the support of Endeavor Miami. The network will facilitate connections between Latin American and Caribbean founders and strategic investors, ensuring a robust and inclusive entrepreneurial landscape.
